Multiple address references for a property
The local authority may hold more than one address reference for a
property. This may happen for a number of reasons, for example, local
authorities may store local names and references for a property in addition to
the official name or reference. This may occur especially in multi-language
areas of the country. Additional reasons for multiple property address
references include:
Successive owners of the property have given it different names, e.g.
"Dunroamin" was changed to "Murray's Cottage".
The precise address has been changed due to postcode areas being altered.
Where the property is referenced by more than one address, PublicAccess will
display a 'List all addresses...' button at the top of the page. Select this
button to view a list of all associated addressees. This page contains the
following associated property address information:
| Address |
Full address description. |
| Address Status |
Each associated address will have a status. For
example, an address status of 'historic' indicates an address which is no
longer in use. A status of 'provisional' indicates an address reference which
is help in the database on a temporary basis. |
| Official Address? |
A property with multiple addresses may have one
official address. This is the address by which this property is officially
referenced by.
|
| Current Address? |
For a property with multiple addresses, there may be
one address which is the current and represents the most up to date reference
for the property. For example, there may be a historic list of associated
addresses for a property, but there will only be one which is current. |
